Jean Lochhead

Jean Lochhead (born December 24, 1946 ) is a former British middle and long distance runner .

Life

She was Welsh cross country champion three times (1967, 1974 and 1975). In addition, from 1973 to 1975 she was three times in a row Welsh champion in the 800 , 1500 and 3000 meters .

From 1967 to 1984 she started for Wales five times at the Cross of Nations (with an eighth place in 1972 as the best place) and ten times at the World Cross Country Championships in Waregem in 1973 (as the best place).

In 1979 she won the Three Peaks Race , when women were allowed to take part in the traditional mountain run over the Yorkshire Three Peaks for the first time . In 1982 she won the Berlin Marathon in 2:47:05 h.

As a senior athlete, Jean Lochhead is now mainly active in orienteering .
