Jean Murat
Jean Murat (born July 13, 1888 in Périgueux , † January 4, 1968 in Aix-en-Provence ) was a French actor.
Life
Jean Murat began his professional life as a journalist, where he worked for several years in Germany until the outbreak of World War I and spoke fluent German. During the war Murat spent part of his military service in the USA and was discovered there by the director Fred Niblo around 1920 . He played a minor role in the film Sex (1920); From 1922 onwards there were regular engagements in film. With the transition to the sound film, Murat managed to become a very popular performer with the embodiment of nobles and romantic heroes. After he had already made a few appearances in late German silent film, he appeared in numerous French versions of German film productions, where he often took over Hans Albers ' part - for example in the French versions of Die Nacht belongs uns (1930), Hans in allen Gassen (1930 ), Bombs on Monte Carlo (1931), The Victor (1932), The White Demon (1932), FP1 Doesn't Answer (1932) and A Certain Mr. Gran (1933). In the 1930s Murat was married to his colleague Annabella for a few years . In addition to a leading role in Jacques Feyder's La kermesse héroïque (1935), from the late 1930s onwards he only received offers in second-rate films, and in the post-war years he was only offered supporting roles.
