Jean Rondeau (born April 23, 1991 in Paris ) is a French harpsichordist and pianist.

Life

When Jean Rondeau began studying piano at the Paris Conservatory , he had already been taking harpsichord lessons from Blandine Verlet for over ten years . He also studied basso with Frédéric Michel and Pierre TROCELLIER , organ with Jean Galard and settled by Sylvain Halevy and Benjamin Moussay in jazz and improvisation teaching and Didier Louis in choral conducting. Further teachers were Olivier Baumont , Blandine Rannou and Kenneth Weiss as well as Carole Cerasi and James Johnstone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He also studied composition at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris (CRR) and musicology at the Université Paris-Sorbonne. He completed his piano studies at the Paris Conservatory with honors.

Rondeau performs regularly in Europe and the United States. His engagements as an orchestral, chamber musician or soloist have taken him to numerous concert halls in Europe and North America. Rondeau has worked repeatedly with the baroque orchestra "Les Ambassadeurs" and is a founding member of the baroque quartet "Nevermind", with which in 2015 he recorded works by unknown French masters from the first half of the 18th century. Rondeau is co-founder of the jazz project "Note Forget", which he uses as a platform for his jazz compositions.

After successful debut concerts in Germany, at the Ruhr Piano Festival or the Music Festival, he received numerous invitations from well-known institutions, such as the Rheingau Music Festival , the Bremen Music Festival, the Philharmonie Essen, the Klassik Lounge of the Kulturradio RBB or the Thuringian Bach Weeks.

Rondeau composed the soundtrack for Christian Schwochow's film Paula .

Prices

At the age of 21, Jean Rondeau was one of the youngest winners of the harpsichord competition at the Musica Antiqua Festival 2012 in Bruges and the European Union Baroque Orchestra Development Trust Award, which is given to young artists in the European Union. In the spring of the same year, Rondeau won second prize in the harpsichord competition at the Prague Spring International Music Festival. In 2012, the “Note Forget” project was awarded the “Trophées du Sunside” prize. In 2013 he received a Francophone Public Radio Young Soloist Prize. In March 2015 he was awarded the Victoires de la Musique in the category "Revelation of the Year" for the album Bach Imagine . Also for this album, Rondeau received the Deutschlandfunk sponsorship award at the 2016 Bremen Music Festival .
