Jean Rossel

Jean Rossel (born September 19, 1884 in Bern , † April 6, 1944 in Lausanne ; entitled to live in Tramelan ) was a Swiss lawyer and member of the Federal Supreme Court . He belonged to the FDP .

Life

The son of federal judge Virgile Rossel studied law at the Universities of Bern and Lausanne . In 1908 he was admitted to the bar of the Canton of Bern . In 1912 he received his doctorate from the University of Bern.

From 1910 to 1919 Rossel was President of the Courtelary District Court and until 1932 a judge at the Higher Court of the Canton of Bern . On December 15, 1932, Rossel was elected federal judge to succeed his father; he remained in this office until 1942.
