Jean Troillet

Jean Troillet (born March 10, 1948 in Orsières ) is a Swiss mountaineer and mountain guide . He is also a Canadian citizen. Troillet lives in La Fouly in Valais .

Life

In 1969 he was recognized as a mountain guide.

He climbed ten of the 14 eight-thousanders, almost all of them in alpine style and without additional oxygen. In 1986 he climbed the Hornbein Couloir on Mount Everest together with Erhard Loretan and reached the summit. In 1997 he was the first to ski down the north face of Mount Everest on a snowboard .

Other eight-thousanders conquered by Troillet are K2 , Dhaulagiri , Cho Oyu , Shishapangma , Makalu , Lhotse , Kangchenjunga , Hidden Peak and Gasherbrum II .

In 2009 he started a new route on the Matterhorn .
