Jeanette Jo Epps (born November 3, 1970 in Syracuse , New York ) is an American astronaut who has not yet completed a space flight.

She received her BS from Le Moyne College as well as Masters of Science and Ph.D. ( Aerospace Engineering ) from the University of Maryland .

Before joining NASA , she was Technical Intelligence Officer at the CIA and Technical Specialist at Ford Motor Company.

Astronaut activity

Epps was elected to NASA's 20th astronaut group on June 29, 2009. She completed her basic training in June 2011.

Epps was scheduled to be the flight engineer for ISS expeditions 56 and 57 . In January 2018, however, she was removed from the team at short notice without giving any reason. In August 2020 she was nominated as the third crew member for the second manned flight of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner to the ISS.
