Jeanne Rubner

Jeanne Rubner (* 1961 ) is a German journalist and author . After working for a long time in the science and politics department of the Süddeutsche Zeitung , she has been editor-in-chief at Bayerischer Rundfunk since March 2012 .

Life

Daughter of the German historian and forest scientist Heinrich Rubner , Rubner studied physics in Regensburg , Strasbourg and Seattle / USA. In 1989 she did her doctorate on a topic from theoretical biophysics at the Technical University of Munich . She then switched to journalism: from 1991 she was an editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung, initially in the science department, in 2000 she moved to the political department. Most recently she was editor for foreign policy.

In March 2012 she moved to Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) as head of the science and education policy editorial team. Since May 2017 she has been head of the Knowledge and Education News editorial team.

Rubner published several books, including on brain research and energy policy; In 2008 she was awarded the first Universitas Prize for Science Journalism by the Hanns Martin Schleyer Foundation . She is the holder of the university medal "Bene merenti" of the University of Regensburg. In 2019 she received the medal for scientific journalism from the German Physical Society .
