Jeffrey Christopher Horn Jr. (* 4. February 1988 in Brisbane ) a Australian professional boxer and former world champion of the WBO in the welterweight division .

Amateur career

He only started boxing at the age of 18, was Australian light welterweight champion in 2009, 2011 and 2012 and also won the 10th Arafura Games 2011 in Darwin in this weight class . Also in 2011 he took part in the World Championships in Baku , but lost in the second preliminary round on points against eventual world champion Éverton Lopes from Brazil. In March 2012, he won the Oceanic Olympic qualification in Canberra and then started at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . There he defeated Gilbert Choombe from Zambia (19: 5) and Abderrazak Haouia from Tunisia (17:11) in the light welterweight division, before losing to Denys Berintschyk from Ukraine (13:21) in the quarter-finals .

Professional career

In March 2013 he won his first professional fight. In September 2013 he won the Australian welterweight championship by knocking out Samuel Colomban in the first round (record: 21 wins - 5 losses). In December he won by unanimous decision against Naoufel Ben Rabah (37-3). In July 2014 he also defeated Fernando Ferreira da Silva (32-3) unanimously. In December 2014 he defeated Robson Assis (14-0) by knockout in the fifth round.

In June 2015, he beat Richmond Djarbeng (19-2). On August 1, 2015, he managed an early win against Viktor Plotnikow (32-2). In December 2015 he won against Ahmed El Mousaoui (22-1).

On April 27, 2016, he beat veteran Randall Bailey (46-8) prematurely by giving up after the seventh round and thereby won the IBF and WBO intercontinental titles. In October 2016 he defeated the German Rico Müller (20-1) and in December 2016 the South African Ali Funeka (39-5).

On July 2, 2017, he surprisingly defeated Manny Pacquiao (59-6) unanimously on points and became WBO welterweight champion. His first title defense was against Gary Corcoran (17-1) on December 13, 2017 and won by technical knockout in the eleventh round.

On June 9, 2018, he lost his world title to Terence Crawford (32-0) after a TKO defeat in the ninth round . He won his next fight on November 30, 2018 by knocking out in the first round against Anthony Mundine (48-8).

He played his next fight nine months later on August 31, 2019 against Michael Zerafa (26-3) and lost to TKO in the ninth round. In December 2019, however, he won the rematch with a narrow points win over ten rounds.

On August 26, 2020 he lost to Tim Tszyu (15-0) by TKO in the eighth round.
