Career

Jeff Malone was after four years at Mississippi State University in the 1983 NBA draft selected by the Washington Bullets in tenth place. For his achievements in his first year as a professional, Malone was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1984 . In the 1980s, Malone was one of the league's top shooting guards and points collectors, scoring over 20 points per game for the Bullets in five of his seven years. In 1986 and 1987, Malone was named to the NBA All-Star Game . He had his best season in 1989/90 when he scored 24.3 points per game. However, the playoffs were missed.

After the season, Malone landed in the form of a three-team transfer with the Utah Jazz and played alongside John Stockton and Karl Malone for almost four years . Behind his namesake, Jeff Malone established himself as a second attack option and came to around 18 points per game during his time with the Jazz. In 1992 he reached the Western Conference final with the Jazz , but was eliminated against the Portland Trail Blazers .

In 1994, Malone was transferred to the Philadelphia 76ers for Jeff Hornacek . Due to injuries, Malone was rarely used for the Sixers . In 1996 he switched to the Miami Heat , for which Malone only played seven games before he ended his NBA career. In his career, Malone scored 19.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

After his career, Malone worked between 2000 and 2006 as a coach for lower-class basketball clubs in the IBL and the NBA D-League .
