Jeffrey "Jeff" Wayne Richmond (born January 7, 1961 in Garrettsville , Portage County , Ohio ) is an American composer, actor and television producer . Richmond composed the music for the comedy series 30 Rock , for which he also worked as a producer.

Life

Richmond grew up in Portage County , Ohio , and graduated from James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville . He later studied at Kent State University , where he also graduated in the late 1980s. During his studies he was involved as a co-author in a large number of musical productions there .

He worked at The Second City in Chicago at the Child's Play Touring Theater before starting composing the music for Saturday Night Live in New York. In 2006 he left the show to work as a composer and producer for 30 Rock . He also plays minor roles on the series and directed an episode in 2010.

In 2008 he wrote the music for the film Baby Mama , in which his wife Tina Fey stars alongside Amy Poehler .

Jeff Richmond has been married to the lead actress and inventor of 30 Rock , Tina Fey, since June 3, 2001 . They met at The Second City . Their first daughter was born on September 12, 2005 and their second daughter on August 10, 2011.
