Yegor Semjonowitsch Strojew ( Russian Егор Семёнович Строев ; born February 25, 1937 in Dudkino, Oryol Oblast ) is a Russian politician .

Act

After a party career in Oryol , Strojew became a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1986 . From 1989 to 1991 he was a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPSU and responsible for agricultural policy. At the same time he had been a member of the party's Politburo since 1990 . After the ban by the CPSU in 1991, Strojew worked for two years as the director of the Russian Institute for Selection and Cultivation of Fruit Crops in Oryol.

His return to politics began in 1993, first at the post of Head of Administration in Oryol Oblast and, from 1996 , as its governor , after the oblast was made a federal subject . Stroiev was re-elected to this post in 1997 and 2001, and was unanimously confirmed in office on April 23, 2005, after the governor's appointment procedure was changed, according to the proposal of then Russian President Putin by the Oryol Assembly of Deputies.

In January 1996 Strojew was elected chairman of the Russian Federation Council; after the reform of the council in 2001, he was replaced by Sergei Mironov , but at the same time appointed honorary chairman of this chamber. Since November 26, 2005 he has been a member of the United Russia party .

On February 16, 2009, Strojew was released from his duties as governor by Russian President Medvedev at his own request , and on March 14, at the suggestion of his successor in the office of governor, Alexander Kozlov, he was elected to the Federation Council as a representative of the executive branch of Oryol Oblast. Strojew replaced his daughter Marina Georgievna Rogacheva, who held this post from May 26, 2004 to February 16, 2009.
