The Jelan ( Russian Ела́нь , in the upper reaches Bolshaya Jelan (Больша́я Ела́нь)) is a right tributary of the Sawala in the Russian Oblast of Voronezh .
The Jelan rises on the southern edge of the Oka-Don plain in the north of the Voronezh Oblast. It flows mainly in a southerly direction and joins the Sawala on the right after 165 km. It drains an area of 3630 km². The Jelan is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge (MQ) is 26 kilometers above the mouth of 6.8 m³ / s.
