action

The very wealthy pensioner Vladimir lives with his wife Jelena in a luxury apartment in Moscow, equipped with all the amenities of modern life. The mismatched couple has been married for two years. Vladimir met his current wife, a former nurse, ten years ago in hospital, where he was treated for peritonitis. Jelena, who comes from a humble background, takes care of the household for the man, cooks for him, wakes him up in the morning and draws the curtains in the evening when he has fallen asleep in front of the television, and she is at his service in bed if necessary - Vladimir provides His still manhood, which he occasionally helps with medication, is not only happy to prove in the fitness studio.

Both spouses brought children into the marriage from previous connections. Vladimir has a daughter, Jekaterina ( Jelena Lyadowa ), who, however, hardly cares about her father and leads an independent life (which is why she only appeared relatively late in the film). Jelena's son, Sergei ( Alexei Rosin ), is unemployed and spends his time drinking beer and smoking cigarettes in the narrow apartment or on the small balcony. He has a small family to support; but it is his mother's money that keeps the family afloat. Jelena makes a cumbersome trip to the periphery of Moscow to deliver the money to her son and his family, and it leads to an opposite world, where cramped conditions prevail everywhere and shabby prefabricated buildings and the ugly cooling towers of a thermal power station shape the backdrop . Jelena's grandson Alexander (Sascha) lounges around the apartment and passes the time with violent video games.

Sergei and his wife are bothering Jelena so that she can ask Vladimir for the money with which Sascha can buy admission to the university, otherwise the young man is threatened with being drafted into the army.

After Wladimir has been physically overdone in the gym and suffered a heart attack in the gym's own swimming pool, he comes to the hospital. His daughter Katerina visits him there at the request of Jelena. Vladimir then makes the decision to write a will and appoint Jekaterina as his sole heir, while Jelena is to receive a pension for life.

When Vladimir leaves the hospital, Jelena, as a former nurse, feels competent enough to take care of the convalescent herself. Vladimir informs Jelena of his intentions with regard to the disposition in the event of his death, also informs her that he has made an appointment with his lawyer for the following day, and asks for paper to start writing the will. Jelena takes up the topic of support for her son again. Vladimir is not ready for this.

Jelena first informs Sergei of the negative decision, but then her mind changes. She consults a medical reference book and actually finds a pack of "Viagra" in Vladimir's bathroom. She mixes the tablets with her husband's cocktail of tablets to be taken every day before a meal. A little later, she expertly, if not in cold blood, ascertains the death of her husband. She burns the draft of the will in the kitchen, lays the pack of Viagra clearly visible on the bedside table next to Vladimir's bed and calls the ambulance.

Since there is no will, all that remains is the division of the inheritance between the wife and daughter of the deceased. There is no longer any cash, Jelena has cleared the safe and delivered the money to her son.

The first beneficiary of this money, Sergei's son Sascha, who is now spared the army, uses a power failure in the building to escape from the apartment and participate in a wild brawl in a gang war.

At the end of the film, Sergei's family left the cramped prefabricated building and is now sharing the luxurious Moscow apartment of her deceased husband with Jelena.
