Jenny Marra (born November 6, 1977 in Dundee ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Life

Marra attended St John's High School in Dundee and then went to St Andrews University , where she graduated with a Masters degree in History. After a year at Emory University in Atlanta , she worked in the press and advertising for the University of Dundee . Marra then studied law at the University of Glasgow and earned a law degree in London . She was admitted to the bar at Dundee University. She is a member of the GMB union and Amnesty International

Political career

Between 2005 and 2006, Marra was the Labor MP's spokesperson in the European Parliament . For the first time Marra ran in the Scottish general election in 2011 to elections at the national level. However, you did not apply for the direct mandate of a constituency, but ran on the regional electoral list of the Labor Party for the electoral region of North East Scotland . As a result of the election result, she was the only Labor candidate to receive a list mandate in this region and entered the Scottish Parliament for the first time .
