Jens Hakanowitz

Jens Kock Hakanowitz (born January 31, 1980 in Augustenborg ) is a Danish - German basketball player and official. The 2.02 meter tall Hakanowitz was Denmark's national team player and is now the sporting director of the Rostock Seawolves .

career

Hakanowitz was born in Augustenborg , but when he was ten years old, the family left their Danish homeland because the father started a job in Germany. Initially the Hakanowitz family lived in the Münsterland and from 1993 in the Hanseatic city of Bremen .

Jens Hakanowitz played from the age of 15 in the youth department of the Bremen club Vegesacker TV and made it into the second division squad at TSV Lesum. In 2002 he moved to BSG Bremerhaven for one season, in 2003/04 he was active for Vegesack in the second regional league.

Between 2004 and 2009 he was the top performer of the Bremen Roosters in the 2nd Bundesliga and from 2007 in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In 2009 Hakanowitz moved to his native Denmark and played for the first division club Hørsholm 79ers north of the capital Copenhagen until 2011 .

From the 2012/13 season he was in the service of EBC Rostock (later Seawolves) and, as team captain in 2014, helped the Mecklenburgers to win the championship title in the first Regionalliga Nord and thus to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . Both in the championship season and in the previous year, Hakanowitz was recognized by the internet service eurobasket.com as the best European player in the Regionalliga Nord. In 2014 he took German citizenship. After another season in Rostock, in which he finished the main round in the ProB northern relay as a newcomer with the EBC as first in the table, he returned to Bremen for professional reasons and played for the Weser Baskets in the second half of the 2015/16 season Regional league.

Hakanowitz separated from the Bremen team in January 2016 and started working as a sporting director for the Rostock Seawolves on March 1, 2016. In addition to this activity, he strengthened Rostock's second men's team in the second regional league. An important success during Hakanowitz's activity as sporting director was the Rostock's promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA 2018.

National team

In 2006 Hakanowitz was in the Danish senior team for the first time, and in 2009 he took part in the European B Championship.
