Jens Bertil Georg Nilsson (born September 25, 1948 in Västervik ; † March 12, 2018 or March 13, 2018 ) was a Swedish politician of the SAP .

Nilsson grew up in Gävle before moving to Östersund in 1978 . From 1997 to 2009 he was chairman of the municipality of Östersund . In the 2009 European elections he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the European Parliament , but moved in on December 1, 2011. With the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty , he was entitled to one of the two mandates that Sweden also received.

In April 2018, Aleksander Gabelic took his place in the European Parliament .
