Jens Dyhr Okking (born December 18, 1939 in Copenhagen , Denmark ; † January 21, 2018 ) was a Danish actor and from 1999 to 2003 a member of the European Parliament .

Life

Jens Dyhr Okking was in the Danish Navy from 1956 to 1959 . He then worked as a set builder at Aarhus Teater and began acting. He made his film debut in the late 1960s. He was nominated four times for the Danish Film Prize Bodil , of which he won three awards. He was honored for his performances in Strømer and Ein Jackpot für Helene as Best Lead Actor and in Nitten røde roser as Best Supporting Actor.

In 1999 Okking was for the June Movement in the European Parliament elected. At the end of his membership he represented the popular movement against the EU . In 2003 he resigned his mandate and left parliament prematurely.
