In 1941 Jens Petersen became Danish champion in the amateur sprint , and vice-champion the following year. In 1946 he won the national professional sprint title . In the same year he started at the UCI track world championships in Zurich in 1946 , but could not place himself at the front.
The Danish championship in sprint for professionals was not held continuously. From 1994, after the separation of amateurs and professionals, the riders belong to the elite.
