Jens Rötzsch

Jens Rötzsch (* 1959 in Leipzig ) is a German photographer .

Life

The photographer Jens Rötzsch, who lives in Berlin, studied photography at the University for Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig. After additional studies in Leipzig and Budapest, with study stays in Paris and London, he lives and works as a freelance photographer in Berlin. His series of reports "Protocol routes" documented the fall of the SED dictatorship in the GDR and showed the new beginning after the fall of the Berlin Wall and peaceful revolution . In 1990 he was a founding member of the Ostkreuz picture agency . Jens Rötzsch publishes his pictures in Zeit Magazin , GEO and Stern and various international magazines. Worldpress Prize Winner 2002 in the Sports Stories category (third prize). From 2004 to 2011 he traveled and photographed Mongolia , the last nomad state in the world, on nine expeditions . In addition to landscape photographs, the work shows the life of the nomads in the country and the rapid development in the capital Ulan Bator .
