Jens Scholz

Jens Scholz (born September 7, 1959 in Osnabrück ) is a German anesthesiologist , university professor and chairman of the board of the Schleswig-Holstein University Medical Center .

Life

Jens Scholz passed the medical state examination and doctorate at the University of Hamburg in 1985 . From 1985 to 1986 he did his specialist training at the Clinic for Anaesthesiology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf . From 1986 to 1988 he was a DFG scholar at the Pharmacological Institute in Hamburg. From 1988 to 1992 he continued his specialist training at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. In 1992 he was recognized as an anesthesiologist and appointed senior physician , Clinic for Anaesthesiology, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. After his habilitation in anesthesiology in 1992, he taught from 1996 to 2000 as C3 professor for anesthesiology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. From 1997 to 2000 he was the chief emergency doctor in Hamburg . From 2000 to 2009 he was full professor and director of the clinic for anesthesiology and operative intensive care medicine at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . In 2009 he obtained an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen . Since 2009 he has been chairman of the board of the Schleswig-Holstein University Medical Center.

Research and Teaching

Jens Scholz's main research areas are anesthesiology, emergency medicine and intensive care medicine .

Memberships

On September 20, 2006, he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina ( matriculation no. 7099 ).

Trivia

Jens Scholz is the younger brother of the German Federal Minister of Finance and Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz . In 2020 he organized the free admission of six French COVID-19 patients to the Kiel Clinic and is therefore highly valued in France.
