Jeon Gyeong-rin or Jon Kyongnin (born November 26, 1962 in Haman, South Kyŏngsang Province ) is a South Korean writer .

Life

Jeon Gyeong-rin was born the oldest of six children. She studied German literature at the Kyŏngnam University in Masan , while doing theater . After graduating, she worked for the Korean Broadcasting System as a text writer for a few years . In 1995 she made her debut with the story The Moon on the Desert in the Korean daily Dong-a Ilbo .

A year later she received the 29th Hankook Ilbo Literature Prize for her short story The Woman Who Drives Goats . With the novel Ein Mann nirgendwo (1997) she was awarded the Munhakdongne publishing house's literary prize and the 21st century literary prize for Merry-Go-Round Circus Woman ( 메리 고 서커스 여인 ). More often she was nominated for the Yi Sang Literature Prize, one of the most important prizes for literature in Korea. In 2011 she received the contemporary literature award in the novels category.
