Jerome Assauer (born June 6, 1988 in Cologne ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The 1.86 m tall striker, who is not related to the former footballer and manager Rudi Assauer , began his career in 1996 in the youth teams of BC Efferen . In 2001 he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach , where he was under contract until 2005. He then joined the Rhenish rival 1. FC Köln , where he played in the youth team. For the 2007/08 season he signed a three-year contract with the second division club SC Paderborn 07 .

On August 17, 2007 he completed his first appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga in the game at SC Freiburg . Assauer made his last game for Paderborn on May 18, 2008 in the 3-2 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach . On December 16, 2008, SC Paderborn announced that Assauer would move to Preußen Münster in the Regionalliga West on January 1, 2009 .

On June 4, 2010, the Wuppertal SV Borussia announced on its club website that Assauer was committed to the 2010/11 season , where the attacker received a contract until 2012. During the 2011/12 winter break, Assauer moved within the league from WSV to Sportfreunde Lotte . There he was supposed to help lead the club into the third division, which ultimately failed with the runner-up behind promoted Borussia Dortmund II.

After half a year in Lotte, Assauer left the club and moved to TuS Koblenz within the league . There he met his former coach Michael Dämgen , who had already trained him in Wuppertal. Assauer completed his personal best season so far for TuS, scoring 20 goals in 35 games and thus becoming the best scorer in the Regionalliga Südwest 2012/13 .

For the 2013/14 season Assauer wanted to move to the third division club SV Darmstadt 98 , but asked for the contract to be terminated for private reasons. Assauer then returned to Koblenz and also ran for the TuS there in 2013/14. Due to injuries, however, he was unable to build on his previous season's performance. For the 2014/15 season, Assauer no longer received a new contract from TuS. At the beginning of the season, western regional division FC Viktoria Köln announced the striker's commitment. He received a one-year contract in Cologne.
