Jerome Cholet

Jérôme Cholet (born December 19, 1979 in Hamburg ) is a German journalist and spokesman for the advertising agencies McCann Erickson and MRM // McCann in Germany.

Most recently he worked as press spokesman for John Neumeier , chief choreographer and ballet director of the Hamburg Ballet , and before that as a journalist for various German newspapers and magazines, including the weekly newspaper "Das Parlament" of the German Bundestag , the magazine for cultural exchange, published by the Institute for Foreign Relations , the Weltsichten magazine of the Association for the Promotion of Development Policy Journalism V. (VFEP) and the Deutschland-Magazin, which appears in cooperation with the Foreign Office and the vorwärts . His journalistic focus is on Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Topics are poverty, justice and violence. Previously, he shot reports for the ZDF foreign studio for southern Africa in Johannesburg (South Africa), including for the ZDF programs Kulturzeit , logo! and people today .

Life

Jérôme Cholet grew up as the son of a journalist and a doctor's secretary in Hamburg and Paris. After graduating from the Helene-Lange-Gymnasium (Hamburg) , he studied political science, history and Latin American studies at the University of Hamburg from 2000 . During his school and study days he worked as a journalist for the magazines GALA, MAX and blond as well as the ARD studio in Paris, Axel-Springer TV and Spiegel TV and as a research assistant at the Institute for Ibero-American Customers and in the research group on the causes of war (AKUF ).

In 1999 he went to Santarém, Brazil as part of the other service abroad and reported from there for the monthly magazine MAX. After his return he worked as a spokesman for the human rights organization Amnesty International on Cuba and Haiti and published numerous reports in their ai journal.

Cholet was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and the Dr. Rita and Alexander Besser Foundation for Foreign Journalism. From 2004 to 2007 he worked for the ZDF South America Studio in Rio de Janeiro under Carsten Thurau and the ZDF Studio for Southern Africa in Johannesburg under Hans-Peter Trojek. In addition, together with Werner Rechmann, he edited "Focus South Africa" for the Johannesburg office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation .

After his return, Cholet worked as a freelance journalist and lecturer in Hamburg. He was a student assistant at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy (IFSH) and gives, among other things, seminars for the German Schools Academy and at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg in literature and political science. In 2012 he worked as an editor for the Heinrich Bauer Verlag , editorial department "TV Hören +sehen, Welt der Wunder, TV 14" before John Neumeier hired him as head of the press office of the "Hamburg Ballet". There he headed the press office, which also worked for the Federal Youth Ballet, the Hamburg Ballet School and the John Neumeier Foundation . In 2014 Cholet moved and is now head of the press office of the advertising agencies McCann and MRM // McCann Germany in Frankfurt am Main under Ruber Iglesias (CEO).

Jerome Cholet is a member of the Federal Association of German Press Spokespersons and a member and mentor of the German Association of Journalists .
