Jerzy Topolski (born September 20, 1928 in Poznan , † December 21, 1998 ibid) was a Polish historian .
life and work
Topolski studied history at Poznan University from 1946 to 1950 , received his doctorate in 1951 and became a professor there in 1961. In 1971 he became a member, correspondent and in 1976 a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).
From 1981 to 1987 he was director of the History Institute at the University of Poznan, but also read at universities in Belgium , France , Spain , the Netherlands , Germany , Italy , Canada and the USA . His focus was on the history of Polish and European modern times and historical methodology. He published about 30 books and several hundred professional articles.
