Federico Magallanes (born August 28, 1976 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Striker Pelusa Magallanes began his footballing career in Uruguay with CA Peñarol . There he made his debut at the age of 18 under coach Gregorio Pérez in the 3-0 win against Progreso in the Primera División . In 1996 he joined the Italian club Atalanta Bergamo . There he broke his knee a short time later. Nevertheless, after a long break he was able to convince there. In June 1998 he moved to Real Madrid , who was coached by José Antonio Camacho at the time , which was a success for him from an economic point of view, but initiated a sporting kink in his career. Just 22 days after his arrival at the club, the coach was replaced by Guus Hiddink . Magallanes did not appear at Real Madrid and in January 1999 he moved to Racing Santander on loan . There he scored one goal in 19 games. With the Spaniards, however, there was initially no interest in a further loan, so he went back to Uruguay and played at Defensor Sporting . There he was able to convince in 2000 alongside players like Marcelo Tejera , Eliomar , Ederson and the young Diego Pérez at the beginning of his career and contributed as a successful goalscorer with 13 goals and 19 goals in Apertura, Clausura and Liguilla that the club qualified for the Copa Libertadores . In addition, this revitalized his national team career, which had suffered from the previous development. He then returned to Santander. But again, with three goals after his return, he fell short of expectations and was often only second choice. His club also ended the season as relegated. Then he changed clubs again and went to AC Venice . Then he moved to Turin FC . With both Italian clubs he was relegated. He then trained with Albacete in Grupo XVII of the Tercera División to stay in shape. José María del Nido signed him in early February 2004 to June 30, 2004 on loan for the then coached by Joaquín Caparrós Sevilla FC , where he scored a goal in five games. After Sevilla no longer placed any value on his services, he trained with Albacete B for three months. In January 2005 he then signed a contract with Eibar. With the club he was relegated to Segunda B. Magellanes then played at Dijon FCO . The next stop was UD Mérida . At the end of 2008 he ended his career. He left the club in March 2009.
National team
Magallanes played for the Uruguayan U-17 and took part in the U-17 South American Championship . On September 20, 1995 Magallanes made his debut in the 1: 3 defeat in the friendly international match against Israel in the Uruguayan senior team . His last of a total of 26 international matches he completed on June 6, 2002. He scored six goals for the Celeste . He took part in the Copa America in Paraguay. Magallanes also played in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
