Jess Willard (born December 29, 1881 in St. Clere , Kansas , † December 16, 1968 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American heavyweight boxing champion.
On April 5, 1915, he won the title against Jack Johnson by knockout in the 26th round in Havana , Cuba . He lost his title on July 4, 1919 to Jack Dempsey in Toledo , Ohio after 3 rounds.
In 2003 Willard was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame .
