Yevgeny Evgenyevich Cherkassov ( Russian Евгений Евгеньевич Черкасов ; born October 12, 1930 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ; † November 20, 2013 ibid) was a Soviet sports shooter .
successes
Yevgeny Cherkassov took part in the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and in Rome in 1960 with the rapid-fire pistol. In 1956 he achieved the second best result with 585 points, winning the silver medal behind Ștefan Petrescu and ahead of Gheorghe Lichiardopol . Four years later, he did not get past twelfth place with 579 points. Both in 1954 in Caracas and in 1958 in Moscow , Cherkassov was world champion with the team . In 1955 he secured the European title in singles in Bucharest . He was also successful at the national level by winning the Soviet state championships in 1956 and 1958.
After his active career, Cherkassov worked as a team doctor for the Soviet and Russian national rifle teams for over 30 years.
