Yevgeny Vladimirovich Simin ( Russian Евгений Владимирович Зимин ; born August 6, 1947 in Moscow , Soviet Union ; † December 28, 2018 there ) was a Russian ice hockey player , coach and scout .

Career

For the 1964/65 season, the striker began his career with HK Lokomotiv Moscow . In 1965 he moved to city rivals HK Spartak Moscow and stayed here until 1974. Then moved to SKA MWO Kalinin for two seasons before spending his last season with Krylya Sowetow Moscow . In total, he scored 185 goals in 315 games in the Soviet league .

Simin was appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team at an early age . On November 26, 1965 he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with gold medals at the 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympics . For the national team, he scored 27 goals in 71 international matches. At the ice hockey world championships he was world champion three times with his team (1968, 1969 and 1971). In 1968 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ". On September 4, 1972, he played his last international match.

After finishing his sports career, Simin worked as an assistant coach at Spartak Moscow. In 1984 and 1985 he was the head coach of this team. From 1992 to 2012 he was a scout for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League for 20 years .
