Ji-Hae Park ( kor. 박지혜, * 1985 in Mainz ) is a South Korean violinist .

Life

Park received his first violin lessons from her mother when she was five. At the age of 14 she appeared as a soloist with the Mainz Chamber Orchestra . In 2001 and 2002 she was awarded first prize at the national youth music competition. In 2003 she began studying with Ulf Hoelscher at the Karlsruhe University of Music and received a scholarship from the Rhineland-Palatinate Future Initiative. In 2003 she received a second prize and two other special prizes at the “ Remember Enescu ” violin competition in Romania. From 2007 she studied with Jaime Laredo at Indiana University Bloomington .

In 2011 she performed a violin recital at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall . In 2013, Park performed at the TED conference in Long Beach , speaking on the role music plays in her mental health.

In 2013 Park recorded an album for Universal with “ The Four Seasons ” by Vivaldi and other works of baroque literature in rock style . In 2015, Decca released an album with romantic violin sonatas . In Korea she also performs in churches and has recorded several albums of Christian music .

Park plays on a Guarneri violin from 1735, on loan from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben . In her free time, she is interested in ice hockey and was an honorary ambassador for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
