Jiangchuan (江川县; Pinyin: Jiangchuan Xiàn) is a district of the prefecture-level city Yuxi in southwest China province of Yunnan . In the southeast it borders on Huaning and Tonghai counties , in the southwest on Hongta district , in the northwest on Jinning and Chengjiang . It has a north-south extension of 33.7 km and a west-east extension of 31.9 km and an area of ​​850 km². 71.6% of this is mountainous or hilly, 15.7% is flat and 12.7% is covered by water. At the end of 2013, the district had 280,000 inhabitants.

The center of the district is 1730 meters above sea level, 102 kilometers from the provincial capital Kunming and 19 kilometers from Yuxi.

Jiangchuan's territory is flat at its center, with the flat areas at around 1,740 meters above sea level. In all directions it is surrounded by mountains, the highest point of which is called Gudui Shan and reaches up to 2648 meters. The lowest point is Hekou Village in Jiuxi Municipality, which is 1690 meters above sea level. There are 16 rivers and the two lakes Fuxian Hu (抚仙湖) and Xingyun Hu in Jiangchuan, they belong to the catchment area of ​​the West River , a tributary of the Pearl River .

The climate of Jiangchuan is subtropical with average annual temperatures of 15.6 ° C and annual rainfall between 800 and 1000 millimeters.

The Lijiashan tombs ( Lijiashan gumuqun ) have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (5-180) since 2001 .

The Lijiashan Bronze Goods Museum ( Liajiashan qingtongqi bowuguan ) opened in 1993 and is the first bronze goods museum in China.

Other attractions for visitors are the Mingxing Fish Cave (明星 鱼洞) and the Biyun Temple (碧云 古寺).

At the community level, the district consists of a street district, four large communities and two communities , one of which is a national community. These are:
