The Hani (also Akha ; own name: Haqniq ; Chinese  哈尼族 , Pinyin Hānízú ) are one of the 56 officially recognized minorities of the People's Republic of China .

According to the last census in 2010, they count 1,660,932 people. They live mainly in Yunnan and Guizhou . Besides, they also live in Vietnam and Laos .

language

The language of the Hani, Enu or Ximoluo , belongs to the Tibeto-Burmese language family. A language distantly related to it is the language of the Lahu .
