Russian minority in China
The Russian minority in China ( Chinese 俄羅斯 族 , Pinyin Éluósīzú ) is one of the 56 ethnic groups recognized by the People's Republic of China . In the 2010 census, 15,393 Russians were counted.
history
The first documented Russian citizens to immigrate to China were descendants of the Cossacks who joined the Manchurian Imperial Guard in 1685. The really significant immigration of the Russians began in 1897 with the construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway . After the October Revolution , immigration from Russia peaked in the city of Harbin (Heilongjiang Province, Manchuria). In the years following the founding of the People's Republic, the majority of Russians emigrated to Australia and Southeast Asia .
Since 1990, the road Yabao Lu (has 雅宝路 , Yǎbǎo Lù ) in the population Community Yabaoli ( 雅宝里社区 , Yǎbǎolǐ Shequ ) of the road district Chaowai ( 朝外街道 , Chaowai Jiedao ) in District Chaoyang capital Beijing to Center of Sino-Russian trade, especially textile and fur trade. This led to the settlement of numerous Russian entrepreneurs and traders.
