The city of Jianyang ( 简阳 市 , Jiǎnyáng Shì ) is an independent city in the independent city of Chengdu in the Chinese province of Sichuan . It has an area of ​​2215 km² and has 1,480,000 inhabitants (2013). The main town is Jiancheng (简 城镇). The city is located in the center of the Sichuan Basin .

As of May 2016, Jianyang is administratively under the jurisdiction of Chengdu. It was previously part of the prefecture-level city of Ziyang .

The pagoda of the Shengde Temple (圣德 寺塔, Shèngdé sì t gelegenen) in the urban area is on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China .
