Jianyang ( Chinese  建 阳 区 , Pinyin Jiànyáng Qū ) is a municipality in the prefecture -level city of Nanping in southeast China 's Fujian Province . Jianyang has an area of ​​3378.2 km² and approx. 335,700 inhabitants (end of 2003, only residents with main residence).

Jianyang has many natural resources such as bamboo , tea and water power . From the 11th to the 14th centuries , Jianyang-based book production was among the top three of the Song and Yuan dynasties .

In Jianyang the founder of Chinese forensic medicine, the doctor Song Ci (宋 慈, 1186–1249), who wrote the Xi Yuan Jilu (洗冤 集), translated as "corrected collected wrongful cases", was born.

Also from Jianyang was Zhu Xi , a philosopher of the Song Dynasty who taught at the White Deer Grotto Academy .
