Jigoku Sensei Nūbē

Hell Teacher Nūbē ( Jap. 地獄先生ぬ~べ~ , dt. " Dens teacher Nube", also known as the unofficial English title Hell Teacher Nube ) is the title of a manga series, which through the cooperation of the author Shō Makura said with signatory Takeshi Okano emerged and in the Weekly Shonen Jump of Shueisha publishing house was published.

The Shōnen series can be assigned to the genres of action , comedy , horror and romance and started in September 1993 with issue 38 of the weekly magazine and ended in March 1999 with the publication of the 24th weekly issue of the magazine and has been summarized in a total of 31 anthologies . With a 49-episode anime series produced by Toei Animation , the manga made the leap to the screen; after the broadcast on the television channels Animax and TV Asahi in 1996 and '97, broadcasts followed in Mexico, among others .

This television series was followed by a total of three feature films and three OVA episodes .

The core of the plot - in Manga and Anime - are the experiences of Meisuke Nueno ( 鵺 野 鳴 介 , Nueno Meisuke ), also called " Nūbē " for short , a teacher at the Dōmori primary school ( 童 守 小学校 , Dōmori shōgakkō ), the one Leads a double life as an exorcist and as such does his best to protect his students in grades 5-3 from Yōkai and other supernatural beings.

In his numerous fights, his left hand is a helpful tool, in which a power was sealed that he received after a fight with an Oni . In order not to attract attention in everyday life, he covers the deformed hand with a glove that tames the forces.

Manga

In addition to the chapter-wise publication of the manga series, with the publication of the first volume on January 11, 1994, these were summarized in anthologies at regular intervals of about three months and published again. After the end of this summary with the publication of the 31st volume on September 3, 1999, the anthologies were republished in the form of small-format Bunkoban . With the start of publication of this new edition on January 18, 2006, two of the original volumes were always combined into one from each new publication date.

Based on the manga, a television series directed by Yukio Kaizawa was produced by Toei Animation from 1996 to 1997 and subsequently broadcast on the Japanese television channels Animax and TV Asahi. Producers Jun Kaji , Nobutaka Nishizawa , Taro Iwamoto and Tetsuya Watanabe were responsible for the series . Based on the illustrations in the manga, Yōichi Ōnishi developed the appearance of the characters for the television series under the artistic direction of Nobuto Sakamoto .

The film music was composed by BMF, which later also used the film music for the original versions of the first Yu-Gi-Oh! -Tv series and Monster Rancher created.

Musically, the episodes were completed by the opening credits with the title Bari Bari Saikyō No. 1 ( バ リ バ リ 最強 NO.1 ) by FEEL SO BAD and the two credits Mienai Chikara - Invisible One ( ミ エ ナ イ チ カ ラ〜INVISIBLE ONE〜) by B'z and SPIRIT by PAMELAH .

The television series was produced and broadcast from April 1996 to June 1997.

Abroad, the series was broadcast in Mexico from July 29 to October 2, 2002.

OVA

Toei Animation produced three OVA episodes under Yukio Kaizawa, which were initially released on VHS parallel to the television series:

The first episode came out on June 12, 1998, the second about a month later on July 10. The third and final episode was first published on May 14, 1999.

Republication

The television series was published on the 10th anniversary of the first broadcast in 2006 with all 49 episodes on two DVD boxes, which also contain the movies and OVA episodes. The first box contains the first 24 episodes of the series with the three movies, while the second offers the remaining anime productions.

Video games

In 1997 an anime game was released for the PlayStation . In the 2006 game Jump Ultimate Stars for the Nintendo DS , the characters Nūbē and Yukime are included as supporting characters.

reception

The end of the series was followed by the offshoot Reibaishi Izuna , which has been published in Magazin Super Jump magazine since 2007 , a special edition of Seinen's Super Jump magazine published by Shueisha Verlag , which is also jointly devised by Shō Makura and Takeshi Okano and his second anthology was ranked 19th on the Japanese manga sales charts in the week of January 6-12, 2009 with 29,490 copies sold.
