Jim Lawless

Hugh James "Jim" Lawless (born February 18, 1934 in Woolwich , London ) is a British jazz and session musician ( percussion ).

Lawless had three years of piano lessons and trained as an electronics technician. He began his music career on the recommendation of Ronnie Scott in 1960 with Eric Delaney . He worked as an orchestral and theater musician from 1963-65 at the Hammersmith Palais, Lyceum Theater and Leicester Square. From the mid-1960s he worked as a freelance musician for studios, film and radio and was part of the easy-listening project Apollo 100 in the early 1970s . In later years he toured the United States with George Shearing and Charlie Watts, respectively . Under his own name he published the album Sounds Interesting . He was on recordings a. a. the London Symphony Orchestra , the Royal Philharmonic , the Big Band CCS and the BBC Big Band , as well as Ted Heath , Jack Parnell , Stéphane Grappelli , Bob Parnow , Joe Loss , George Shearing, Henry Mancini , Mel Tormé , Peggy Lee , Lena Horne , Nelson Riddle , Kiri Te Kanawa , Lulu , The Beatles and Tom Jones involved.
