Jim Rippey

Jim Rippey (born November 5, 1970 in Quincy , California ) is an American professional snowboarder . In the meantime he is also active and successful in other genres such as base jumping , motocross and sky diving .

Life

As a child, Rippey's parents took him skiing to northern California, where he often played the sport. At the age of 19 he finally switched to snowboarding and started working in the ski centers. While he earned his living during the day working on the lifts, he practiced snowboarding at night. He soon rose to the top of the world's best riders, invented his own trick ( Rippey Flip ), designed one of the most successful snowboards of all time ( Burton Rippey ), has his own series of characters and won the sport's greatest competitions.

In 2001, Rippey made people sit up and take notice again when he performed the first backflip on a snowmobile and was also able to land. For this he received the ESPN Feat of the Year award in 2002 , a kind of honor that honors particularly daring maneuvers in sport.

Jim Rippey is now married and lives in Truckee , California with his wife Jennifer .
