Jimi Santala (born April 5, 1988 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Kiekko-Espoo in the third Finnish ice hockey league , Suomi-sarja , since 2018 .

Career

Jimi Santala began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of Espoo Blues , where he was active until 2005. He then spent a year with the U18 and U20 juniors of the HPK Hämeenlinna , before returning to the Espoo Blues for another two years, for whose U20 juniors he played in the top Finnish junior division, the Jr. A SM-liiga, played. From 2008 to 2010, the defender ran in the Mestis , the second Finnish division, for Mikkelin Jukurit , Kiekko-Vantaa and RoKi .

For the 2010/11 season Santala moved to HC Morzine-Avoriaz in the French Ligue Magnus . After a year there, he moved within the league to the top team Dragons de Rouen , with whom he immediately won the French championship title in the 2011/12 season. At the European level, he was also successful with his team in the IIHF Continental Cup . The following two seasons he played for the league rivals Les Gothiques from Amiens , with whom he was eliminated early in the play-offs. 2014 returned to the Finnish 2nd division and played two seasons for LeKi . From the 2016/17 season , he played for Espoo United, which was newly founded after the bankruptcy of Espoo Blues .

For a try-out, he moved abroad again in January 2018 and played eight games with the Lausitzer Füchsen in Weißwasser .
