Jirayu Pleenaram (born February 9, 1996 ) is a Thai sprinter and middle distance runner .

Athletic career

Jirayu Pleenaram gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2014 in Taipei , where he finished fifth with 1: 59.83 min in the 800-meter run . The following year he was sixth at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 1: 54.36 minutes. At the 2017 Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , India , he was eliminated over 800 meters in the first round and won the bronze medal behind the teams from India and Sri Lanka in the Thai 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 06.48 minutes. At the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur , he won gold with the relay and was sixth in the individual competition before he was eliminated from the relay in the preliminary round at the Summer Universiade in Taipei. At the beginning of September he won the bronze medal behind Pakistan and Qatar at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 3: 21.21 minutes.

In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where he retired with the men's relay in the run-up, while with the mixed relay he finished sixth in 3: 25.80 minutes. The following year he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships in Doha , where he retired with 1: 51.98 min and finished fourth in the relay in 3: 10.28 min. He then reached the semifinals at the Summer Universiade in Naples , where he was eliminated with 1: 51.17 minutes, while he finished sixth with the relay in 3: 07.00 minutes. In early December he was in the South East Asia Games in Capas in 1: 51.68 min fourth.
