Jirka Arndt

Jirka Arndt (born  August 1, 1973 in Wolgast ) is a German athlete who is active in long-distance running . After he went to the children's and youth sports school in Potsdam from his hometown in 1987 and started for SC Charlottenburg (SCC) in the 1990s , he switched to SC Potsdam in 2003 .

Sporting successes

Jirka Arndt took third place in the German championships in 1998 in the 5000 and 10,000 meters , and two years later he was runner-up in the 5000 meters. However, since the International Association of Athletics Federations retroactively revoked the title of the winner Dieter Baumann due to doping and the German Athletics Association accepted this decision, Jirka Arndt is listed in the sports statistics as the German champion of the year 2000. In the hall he achieved third place at the German championships in 1996 and 1998 and second place in the 3000 meter run in 1999 . In 2002, in his last year at SCC Berlin, he won the German marathon championship in the team classification.

At the Junior European Championships in 1991 he reached sixth place over 5000 meters. In the same discipline he was eighth and thus the second best runner from Europe at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . Three years later he was the best German runner in the Berlin Marathon with a 23rd place .
