João José (born June 7, 1978 in Portimão ) is a Portuguese volleyball player who was under contract with VfB Friedrichshafen for nine years .

João José began his career at Che - Lagoense. Further stations were the Portuguese clubs AD Machico , Maritimo and Castêlo da Maia Ginásio Clube in Maia . From 2004 to 2013 he played at VfB Friedrichshafen in the German volleyball league and was German champion seven times in a row . In 2013 José returned to his Portuguese homeland.

José played 224 times for the Portuguese national team . At the 2002 World Cup in Argentina , he was named Best Blocker . In 2010 he won the Europa League with Portugal and was named the best attacker here .

João José is married and has one son.
