João Pereira Batalha Santos , known as Jamba (born July 10, 1977 in Luanda ), is a former Angolan football player . He took part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany with Angola .

Career

The defender played at club level exclusively in his home country. He started his career in 1996 with Primeiro de Maio . He then spent a large part of his career at Atlético Sport Aviação from Luanda , where he played with a short break from 1999 until his retirement in 2010. With the capital club he was Angolan champion three times in a row from 2002 to 2004 and also twice cup winners .

Jamba played in the period from 1998 to 2009 in over 50 international matches for the Angolan national team , with which he was able to qualify for a football World Cup for the first time . In the qualifying games he was a regular player and at the World Cup in Germany he was used in all three group matches . His team was eliminated after the preliminary round. In 2004 he was also able to win the South African Championship with his country .
