Jo-El Azara
Jo-El Azara (actually: Joseph F. Loeckx ; born May 4, 1937 in Drogenbos ) is a Belgian comic artist.
Azara studied at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels and met Willy Vandersteen while on vacation , who offered him a job in his drawing studio. There he worked on a series of Suske and Wiske . From 1954 to 1961 he worked for Hergé and supported Hergé in creating several Tintin and Struppi albums . From 1958 he published under several pseudonyms , e.g. B. Jo-El , Ernest and Jo-El Azara comics and drawings in various magazines, including Spirou .
His first series appeared in Tintin magazine , including his best-known with Taka Takata . In addition, he drew a Percy Pickwick episode ( Les lutins diaboliques , text by Greg ) and worked with various scenarios, such as: B. Jacques Acar , Jacques Lob , Maurice Rosy and Michel Crespin . In 1994 Azara founded his own label Azeko , which he used to reissue Taka Takata's albums .
