Jo Goll
Jo Goll (* 1966 in Backnang ) is a German journalist who mainly deals with investigative research. In recent years he has written numerous TV reports and documentaries on the topics of right-wing extremism and Islamism for ARD, RBB and WDR. Many of his films and research have received awards.
Life
During his studies ( political science , history and public law at the Albrecht Ludwig University of Freiburg ), Jo Goll initially worked as a reporter and presenter for various local broadcasters and as a reporter for RUFA Bonn.
Until 1996 Jo Goll worked as a radio reporter and presenter for Südwestfunk . This was followed by an internship at the Sender Free Berlin (1996–1997). Since then he has worked for the rbb (formerly SFB ) as a reporter and television editor as well as an author for the political magazine Kontraste . In addition, he works as an author and editor for ARD-aktuell .
From 2007 to 2009 Jo Goll dealt intensively with the subject of doping in competitive sports. Together with the ARD doping expert Hajo Seppelt , he published the documentary “In the realm of means. Doping in China ”, in which alleged offers of stem cell manipulation for top athletes were reported for the first time. The 45-minute documentary caused a sensation around the world and received several awards.
In 2011, Jo Goll and co-author Matthias Deiß created the ARD documentary “Lost Honor. Der Irrweg der Sürücü family ”, which is about the so-called honor killing of the German-Turkish woman Hatun Sürücü and which was broadcast across Europe in several languages. The documentary received several European awards. In the same year the book “Ehrenmord. A German Destiny ”, which deals primarily with the family history of Hatun Sürücü. The book is also the basis for the 2019 film Just a Woman .
Goll has been working as the first reporter for the Berlin-Brandenburg radio station since 2012. He deals intensively and continuously primarily with the topics of radical Islamism and right-wing extremism. He can be heard regularly on the ARD radio waves as a conversation partner and expert on these topics.
Jo Goll lives with his family in Berlin.
