Joachim Drenckhan

Joachim Drenckhan , also Drenckhanius and Drinchanius (* around 1570 in Grevesmühlen , † June 1616 in Stralsund , buried on June 25, 1616) was a German educator and rector in Stralsund.

Drenckhan is proven in January 1590 as a respondent at the University of Frankfurt an der Oder . On March 31, 1597 he received his master's degree from the University of Rostock .

In 1598 he was appointed sub-rector at the Katharineum in Lübeck . Here Joachim Jungius was his student. In autumn 1606 he was appointed rector of the Stralsund grammar school , where he was introduced to his office on January 22, 1607 and stayed until his sudden death in 1616. Drenckhan did a lot for the internal order of the grammar school; He created a new order for the choir students and put on the legacy book , which records the foundations made for the school and their income and expenses and forms an important source for the history of the grammar school. The corpse book , which he also started, as well as the wood book , both of which were used for the accounting of the corresponding income and expenditure, are no longer available. For the use of the teachers' college he had a bathroom set up in the house of the Conrector.

He was married to Anna, geb. Smedes, the daughter of a citizen of Lübeck. She died on July 3, 1614, and he remarried after the 1615 year of mourning .
