Joachim Franz

Joachim Franz (born November 11, 1960 in Wolfsburg ) is a German AIDS activist. He became known as an extreme athlete .

Life

As a young man, Franz worked shift workers at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. He weighed over 120 kilograms and, by his own admission, led an unhealthy and poorly reflected life. One of his friends died of AIDS. He realized at around the age of 30 that he needed to radically change his life and that he needed new goals and challenges. Today Franz is a successful adventure athlete and motivator , who has several entries in the Guinness Book of Records and is fighting against the spread of AIDS with various projects.

Franz became known through various projects such as “Paris – Dakar - Hand in Hand against AIDS”.

Today Joachim Franz works as a speaker, book author and managing director of a personnel development company. He talks about his life and especially his aids awareness expeditions.

From 2001 to 2011 Joachim Franz carried out several aids awareness expeditions ( waae for short , German: expeditions to draw attention to AIDS). In 2005 he cycled the entire Panamericana in around 36 days. The 2008 expedition climbed the highest mountains in each of 20 countries from Norway to South Africa. In 2011, his expedition reached 55 countries in 111 days.
