Joachim Friedrich Ernst von der Lühe (* 1748, † 1809 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer , captain and educator during the Enlightenment .

Life

Von der Lühe came from the Württemberg region. From 1779 he was a Saxon-Gotha chamberlain with the rank of major and became court master and tutor of the Hereditary Prince August in Gotha . He married Caroline Freiin von Brandenstein (1754-1813). With the name a Globo alato he was a member of the Strict Observance and as a deputy master of the Gotha lodge Zum Rautenkranz (Zum Kompass) Freemason . He became a member of the Illuminati under the order name Cato Uticensis in the Regent Degree or Docet , which was the highest attainable degree in the twelve- tier system of the Illuminati. As a close associate and confidante of the Enlightenment Officer Johann Joachim Christoph Bode , he was involved in securing the Masonic-Illuminatian estate (estate administrator was the Weimaraner privy councilor Christian Gottlieb von Voigt) of Bode, whose legacy is also known as the "Swedish Box" in 1793. For fear of the Weimar government of the reaction , this archive finally passed into the possession of Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg for 1500 Taler . Von der Lühes letters to Bode are in the fifth volume of the so-called " Sweden box ".

Probably on the recommendation of the Mecklenburg Minister , August Georg von Brandenstein , von der Lühe was appointed senior bailiff in Stavenhagen in 1793 .
