Joachim Gelfert

Joachim Gelfert (born December 27, 1925 in Berlin-Tempelhof ) is a former German politician ( CDU ). He was first chairman of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district committee and a member of the main committee of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU).

Life

Gelfert attended elementary school and learned the trade of industrial clerk from 1941 to 1943 and was then drafted into the armed forces for military service.

In 1945 he joined the CDU and worked as a department head until 1953. He then worked as chairman of the district associations Mühlhausen , Saalfeld and Gotha of the CDU. 1954/55 he acted as deputy chairman of a council of the district. From 1955 to 1962 Gelfert worked again as chairman of a district association of the CDU and then from 1962 to 1966 as secretary of the district association Erfurt of the CDU.

From August 1966 to June 1988 he was finally chairman of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district executive of the CDU. Between 1968 and 1989 Gelfert was a member of the main board of the CDU.

Gelfert was also a member of the Erfurt District Assembly from 1958 to 1963 and a member of the Karl-Marx-Stadt District Assembly from 1967 to 1988.
