Joachim Heinrich von Bredow

Joachim Heinrich von Bredow (born July 7, 1643 in Spandau ; † October 22, 1705 ) was Major General in Brandenburg and most recently in command of the Friedrichsburg Fortress near Danzig .

Life

origin

His father Joachim von Bredow was hereditary lord on Hoppenrade and Kurbrandenburg captain in the Ribbeck regiment, his mother his wife Anna Hippolyta von der Groeben from the Löwenberg family.

Military career

He joined the electoral bodyguard in 1656 as a simple pikeman . There he became a lieutenant in 1660, a captain in 1675 and a major in the Helldorf regiment in 1678. In the Dutch War he fought in Alsace, Pomerania and East Prussia. On November 12, 1679 he was appointed commandant of Löcknitz . On May 14, 1689 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 22, 1689 appointed commander of Friedrichsburg. There he commanded his own company. On March 6, 1695 he was promoted to colonel. On November 17, 1698 he was briefly appointed in command of Elbing . On January 22nd, 1705 he was appointed major general, on October 22nd, 1705 he died on a trip to Danzig.

family

On June 12, 1664, he married Sophie Juliane von Bandemer (* 1648; † December 8, 1732) from the Weitenhagen family. The couple had several children:
