Joachim Kunze (trumpeter)

Joachim JK Kunze (born June 29, 1966 ) is a German trumpeter , composer and music teacher .

Life

Kunze studied with Malte Burba at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz. The Landesjugendorchester Hessen, the Uni Big Band Frankfurt, Mainz and Gießen as well as the Rodgau Monotones are among his stations. Assignments with Ricky Martin , Fettes Brot , Albert Mangelsdorff , Jiggs Whigham , Tomasz Stańko , Bobby Shew , Conte Candoli , Ack van Rooyen , Barbara Dennerlein and others have taken him through England, Australia, Egypt, the USA and France.

Further training with Andy Haderer , Claus Stötter , Rüdiger Baldauf , Allen Vizutti, Rob Pronk and Bobby Shew as well as the further development of his blowing technique enable him to achieve a range up to the four-stroke octave .

In 2005 he founded, directed and composed the band Firehorns , a nonet with three trumpets, alto and tenor saxophone, trombone, piano, bass and drums. In the following three years two albums were created. In 2010 he started the TZA WA project , programmed sounds to which the trumpet improvised with a variety of sounds.

Since 2012 he has been a member of Das Bummeldaun-Syndrom (which appears with trumpet Joachim Kunze, tuba Matthias Siegel and drums Kuno Wagner); The ensemble's first CD was released in 2014. In 2013 he founded the duo MK-2Play with the pianist Andreas Müller , which is available in an acoustic version (with grand piano and trumpet) and an electronic version in which both artists work with computers. The foundation is formed by programmed grooves and sounds, which the two paint over with melodies and improvisations.

Since 2017 he has formed the funk duo Kunze / Woinowski together with drummer Jörg R. Woinowski , whose debut album Strömungen was released in 2019.

In addition to his work as a teacher for brass instruments at the Bad Nauheim music school , he also participates in JUPITER workshops.
